John K. Welch is the retired president and CEO of Centrus Energy Corp. (formerly USEC, Inc.). He previously served as executive vice president of General Dynamics’ Marine Systems Group, which included Bath Iron Works, Electric Boat and National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO). Prior to his leadership position at Marine Systems Group, he served as president, vice president of programs and vice president for program development at Electric Boat.
Welch served on the board of directors of Centrus Energy Corp. and its predecessor, USEC Inc., from 2005 until 2013. He is chairman of the Board of Battelle Memorial Institute and serves on the board of Mount St. Joseph High School.
Welch graduated from the United States Naval Academy and spent seven years as a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. He is retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve. He also earned a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and an MBA from Loyola College.
